Alex Williams

Alex Williams' paintings are not only visually pleasing but also convey a sense of vitality and originality that belies the skill involved in their creation. His depictions of rural landscapes, including scenes of abandoned machinery and discarded tools, are not sentimental but rather imbued with a playful sense of humour that often elicits a smile from the viewer. Williams' figures, especially his portraits of women and girls, are painted with great affection, and his use of colour and light enhances their beauty and charm. Even his depictions of animals and inanimate objects, such as houses and other buildings, seem to possess a liveliness and energy that make them appear almost animate. Although Williams' work has been influenced by artists such as Peter Blake, Picasso, Matisse, and Duncan Grant, he has developed a unique style that is unmistakably his own. Despite his success in designing commercial products, his true passion remains painting, and he has found that being free from market constraints has allowed his art to evolve and deepen in new and exciting ways. As he becomes more confident in his vision, Williams' work displays an uncommon lightness of touch and visual dexterity that make it instantly recognisable and endlessly engaging.
